William George Clisch

William George Clisch, age 87 of Alston, MI passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at his son’s home. He was born September 29, 1928 in Laurium, MI, son of George and Nan (Pelto) Clisch. Bill graduated from Baraga High School in 1946. He married the former Jean Juntunen on December 10, 1949 in Nisula, MI. Bill worked construction for Bacco prior to starting at Celotex since it opened in 1959 until his retirement in 1990. After Celotex he enjoyed logging with his son, Tom, dozing roads and spending time with the crew. Bill was a member of Mission United Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking; making various things out of wood for family and friends. His family was important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. Surviving are his son Tom (Debbie) Clisch of Alston; daughters, Ann (John) McMullin of L’Anse, Kathy (Jim) Edwards of L’Anse, Becky (Tom) Dishneau of Bergland, MI; 9 grandchildren, John, Nicole, Bill, Maria, Tom, April, Philip, Michael, and Elizabeth; 21 great grandchildren; sister-in-law’s Ellen Clisch of Nisula, Lillian (Peter) Van Straten of Pequaming, Jane Juntunen of Greenland; brother-in-law’s, Arnold (Alice) Juntunen of Baraga, Harold Juntunen of Livonia, MI, Norman (Jen) Juntunen of Farmington Hills, MI, Jim Loman of Baraga; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; wife Jean Clisch on Feb. 1, 2014; grandson Christopher Edwards; brothers Roy Clisch and Jack (Barbara) Clisch. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 5th from 10-11:00 a.m. at Mission United Lutheran Church. His memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Autio officiating. A luncheon and fellowship will follow in the church hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family. Friends may sign Bill’s guest book or send condolences at www.jacobsonfuneralhome.com .
