Carol Joyce (Derocher) Erickson

Carol Joyce Erickson, age 88 of Taylor, MI passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Down River Estates Assisted Living Center in Browntown Twp, MI.

She was born March 12, 1934 in L'Anse, MI daughter of Oliver and Esther (Maki) Derocher. Joyce graduated from L'Anse High School in 1952. She married Captain Donald Earl "Eric" Erickson on December 15, 1956.

Joyce was a member of the International Ship Master's Association Auxiliary. She loved her dogs and enjoyed spending summers at her cabin on Huron Bay.

Surviving are her son Eric Jon Erickson of Allen Park, MI; sister Joan (Dean) Jacobson of Maple Grove, MN; numerous nieces and a nephew.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Oliver and Esther Derocher; husband Captain Donald Erickson; and sister-in-law Helen Blair.

Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. A graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Copper Country Humane Society, P. O. Box 453, Houghton, MI 49931. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
