Daniel John Maki

Daniel John Maki, age 68 of Pelkie, MI passed away on Friday, November 10th, 2023 at Bayside Village in L'anse, MI.

He was born June 23, 1955 in L'Anse, son of Arne and Margaret (Seelye) Maki. Dan graduated from Great Lakes Adventist Academy in Cedar Lake, MI. He married Denise LaFernier on September 17, 1977 in Keweenaw Bay, MI. He worked as a truck driver, welder, and a logger.

Dan enjoyed motor cycles, dirt bikes, four wheelers, kayaking, music, flying model airplanes, being in nature, scuba diving, metal detecting, and when he was younger he lifted weights and was a body builder.

Surviving are his wife Denise Maki of L'Anse; children, Becky (Dr. John) Simmons of Corning, NY, Jessica (Eric) Cadeau of L'Anse, Emily Maki of L'Anse; grandchildren, Zakkary Tussing, Lexus Tussing, Nathaniel Cadeau, Alexander Cadeau, and Genevieve Cadeau; brother-in-law Richard LaFernier of Keweenaw Bay, MI.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Arne and Margaret Maki; sisters June Mervar, Della Jestila, and Margaret "Mugsy" Maki Tikkanen; and brother Arne "Mutty" Maki.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 18th from 1-3:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home where family and friends will share stories at 2:30 p.m.
