David Franklin Bier

February 4, 1946 — February 8, 2021

David Franklin Bier, age 75, of Aura, Michigan died peacefully at his home on February 8th, 2021 surrounded by his loving family who loved him dearly. Dave was born on February 4, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan son of Lawrence and Rosalia (Gauden) Bier.

Dave met Cathy Walters in the 10th grade where they courted through high school and married August 20, 1965. Dave and Cathy moved from Royal Oak, Michigan to L'Anse, in the early 70's, where they raised their family. Dave spent his life working and providing for his family, teaching his children how to take care of themselves, along with enjoying the outdoors. He enjoyed planting various trees in his orchard, along with acres of beautifully manicured lawn that always kept him busy in the summer. Making maple syrup was a high priority for him in the spring, and the ones he gave it to longed for it each year.

His love and faith in the promises of his God, Jehovah, helped reassure him of the words spoken at Isaiah ch. 40 vs 29-31. Every day of his life he enjoyed the creative works of his heavenly Father.

Dave will be missed for his sayings that he would take from movies he had seen, use them in his conversations and then claim them as his own, his quick wit, and the frequent "I Love You" that he always expressed to his family.

Proceeding him in death is his beautiful granddaughter, Julie Delene. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cathy Bier of Aura, his children David (Michelle) Bier of Aura, Janice Bier of Grand Forks, ND, Ted (Christine) Bier of Houghton, and Joe Bier of Aura; grandchildren include Sarah (Luke) Reil, David John Bier, Emily Delene, Eric Delene, Thora, Max, and Scarlett Bier; great grandchildren Piper & Briar Reil; sisters, Rosemarie Labby, Alicia Hicks, and Denise Bier; numerous cousins, brothers-in-law, one special sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private memorial service. Information will be forthcoming regarding a graveside service which will be held in the spring at the Aura Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
