April 29, 1921 — November 24, 2020

A Celebration of Life for Doris will be held at the L'Anse American Legion Post #144 from 5-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 28th, 2021. Please join her family at this time to share your stories, laughs and memories of a life lived to the fullest during her incredible 99 years.

Doris Marie (Bordeleau) Miron died on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, as a result of contracting Covid-19. She had been a resident of Bayside Village in L'Anse, Michigan since March, 2018. Doris was born on April 29, 1921, to Nelson and Mary (Evancheck) Bordeleau in Walsh, Wisconsin. She graduated Valedictorian from L'Anse High School's Class of 1939. Following graduation, she was employed by the Commercial National Bank of L'Anse. On September 18, 1948, she married the love of her life, Raymond M. Miron at Sacred Heart Church in L'Anse, with her brother, Harold Bordeleau and his wife Margaret , standing as their witnesses. Doris & Ray made their residence in the Village of L'Anse where they raised their family of eight children. She was employed later in life as a bookkeeper at Lakeview Lumber Store and as a Baraga County Deputy Clerk, retiring in 1984. She was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Church, served on the Baraga County Jury Board, was a Charter Member of the L'Anse VFW Aux. #3896 and was active in the Baraga Land Senior Citizens. Doris enjoyed sharing her success with Weight Watchers, being a duly certified WW Leader and her sewing skills were also shared with others when she became certified as a teacher of the Bishop Sewing Method. Doris was a member of the Dis & Dat Club for over 40 years, a special group of friends who shared all sorts of crafts and creativity over the years. There wasn't anything as wonderful as her homemade bread, pasties and peanut rolls. Doris enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage, bowling, sewing, canning, knitting and every type of sports. She loved watching all of her favorite college and professional teams play baseball, football and basketball. No one was a more avid supporter of all the L'Anse High School sports. She loved being there for all the games, especially watching her own children and grandchildren play.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1996, her parents, Nelson and Mary Bordeleau, brothers, Harold and Theodore Bordeleau, infant sister Jane Bordeleau and daughter, Jane (Miron) Degenaer. Surviving Doris are five daughters, Ann (Bogue) Sandberg, Chassell, MI, Joan Miron, Escanaba, MI, Phyllis (Terry) Lee, L'Anse, MI, Patricia Sholander (fiancé, Craig Jestila), Crystal Falls, MI and Jacqueline Miron, Traverse City, MI; two sons, David (Brenda Bartling) Miron, Ishpeming, MI and Harold (Kathleen) Miron, Covington, MI; one sister, Lorraine Michaels, Marquette, MI and numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Scott Kent, Nola (Kent) Asgaard, Daniel, Joseph and Becky Lee, Gus & Ingrid Sandberg, Dallas Degenaer, Kyle Miron, Carly Miron, Jenna, Max and Raymond Miron, Calix and Audrey Sholander, and 11 great-grandchildren, Kaya Kent, Taylor & Connor Asgaard, Braydon, Sam and Willow Lee, Gunnar Miron, Ray and Clark Miron, Thena Lou Miron-Bergquist and Freya Sholander.

Doris's family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at Bayside Village for their loving and professional care given to her since she became a resident at Bayside Village in 2018. After surviving a stroke in December, 2006, Doris, a fiercely independent woman, was left in need of much help to continue living at home. The family would also like to thank all of her neighbors, friends, public and private caregivers who met those needs, thus allowing her to remain in her own home for 12 years following her stroke. Thank you to the Village of L'Anse employees who kept an eye on our mother's home and responded whenever it was needed, the Bay Ambulance crew and all of her doctors and health care workers at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. The family couldn't have done it without you. Her home was her castle and her family meant everything. Although her presence will be greatly missed, her spirit has joined the many family and friends she has loved and missed here on earth.

A private family graveside service was held in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. Donations may be made in her memory to the Sacred Heart School.
