Gwenneth Rae (Emery) Loonsfoot

January 28, 1944 — March 1, 2023

Gwenneth Rae Loonsfoot, age 79 of Zeba, MI passed away on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023 at U.P. Health System Marquette, MI.

She was born on January 28, 1944 in L'Anse, MI daughter of William Emery and Margaret Scofield. Gwen graduated from L'Anse High School. She was married to Frederick Gauthier on September 29, 1962 and together they had five children, and then later married Lawrence Loonsfoot.

Gwen worked as a bartender at Swede's Bar and the Buckhorn Bar for over 20 years prior to working at the Ojibwa Casino working the change cart and a slot attendant. She enjoyed doing puzzles, playing Bingo, Yahtzee, cribbage and played in a Pool league.

Gwen is survived by her three children: Dawn (Jason) Lorendo, her children; Heather, Travis and Hannah; son Charles (Serene) Gauthier and his children; Brittanee, Brian, Beth, Breanna and Mariah: and daughter Nicole (Wayne) Gauthier and her children Robert and Rayleah; and grandchildren Derek, Jordanne, Jared, and Jay.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence Loonsfoot and Richard "Smack" Semasky; son Daniel Gauthier; brothers: James "Big Bopper" Emery, Gerald "Tippy" Emery, Ronald Emery, and William "Gene" Emery: sisters Jacqueline Cote, Virginia "Ginger" Shelifoe, Mary "Babe" Conners, Beverly Ellsworth, and Patricia Kemppainen; an infant son, Frederick Paul and two grandchildren Daniel Frederick Jr. and Charles Ray.


There will be no funeral but there will be a Pool banquet in her memory at a later date. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family. Friends may sign Gwen's guest book or send condolences at www.jacobsonfuneralhome.com.
