James Matthew Juntunen, age 56 of Nisula, MI passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
He was born December 21, 1965 in L'Anse, MI son of Raymond and Judith (Maki) Juntunen. Jim graduated from L'Anse High School in 1984. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1984 and served his country until 2005. Jim then went to work for Lockheed Martin in April of 2005 he worked for them in United Arab Emirates. Jim enjoyed bike riding, golfing, skiing, traveling, being outdoors, and loved adventure.
Surviving are his wife Sheila Juntunen of Las Vegas, NV; children, Donna (Shaun) Bryan, Kristin (Roger) Kovach, Angela (Brian) Vizina all of Nisula, Samantha (Steven) Schultz of Painsdale, James Juntunen Jr of Massachusetts, Brittney, Briella, Britton Juntunen all of Las Vegas; brothers, Robert (Karen) Juntunen of Rockland, MI, Richard Juntunen of United Arab Emirates, John Juntunen of Battle Creek, MI, William (Chris) Juntunen of Stanwood MI; and 15 grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents and brother Danny Juntunen.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 22nd from 10-11:00 a.m. at Mission United Lutheran Church. His memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Kelly Ylitalo officiating. Baraga County Area Veterans will conduct military rites following the funeral service at the church. Burial will be in the Nisula Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
