John H Dault

June 15, 1958 — June 25, 2018

John H Dault, age 60 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 after being recently diagnosed with cancer, he was called to be at home with the Lord.

He was born June 15, 1958 in L’Anse son of Homer and Phyllis (Gauthier) Dault. John graduated from L’Anse High School in 1976. After graduation he sailed the Great Lakes for Ford Motor Co on the John S. Dystrow for 2 years. He then went to Michigan Tech University. John worked for the Menge Brothers at Dick’s Service Station for many years. On May 28, 1985 he began working for Michigan Department of Transportation where he was the transportation maintenance supervisor. He was very influential in forming the Houghton maintenance facility. John received numerous awards from the State of Michigan over his 33 years with the department.

On August 29, 1998 John married the love of his life, Laura Griffin in Copper Harbor. John loved his family and his grandchildren were his world. He enjoyed fishing and playing Nerf wars with his grandchildren. John had also played Captain America at Sacred Heart School. He played the banjo and guitar. He was meticulous with his woodworking and making things.

Surviving are his loving wife Laura of L’Anse; daughter, Amanda (Jason) Rinkinen of Baraga; grandchildren, Mathew and Annika Rinkinen; brother Michael (Karen) Dault of L’Anse; sisters, Laurie (Dave) Washer of Gilroy, CA, Joanne (Dan) Hochstein of L’Anse; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding him in death are his parents and a brother Jack Dault.

Per John’s request there will be no funeral service. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
