Joseph Christopher Lehto

Joseph Christopher Lehto, age 71 of Aura, MI peacefully passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at his home in Aura.

He was born December 25, 1951 in L’Anse, son of Lila (Saari) and Hugo Lehto. Joe graduated from Negaunee high school in 1970. He briefly studied electrical engineering at Michigan Tech and then began working as an electrician apprentice and later became a master electrician. Joe also worked in the logging industry throughout his life, built his own sawmill and ran a logging/sawing business with his brother, Hugo. Like the rest of his family, he enjoyed music and played the piano and the bass guitar.
He married JoAnn Baril in 1975; they later divorced but had two daughters, Jamie and Holly.

Surviving are his daughters Jamie Lehto of San Diego, CA and Holly Lehto of Denver, CO, and his siblings Kenneth (Karen) Lehto of Green Bay, Hugo (Rene) Lehto of Aura, Karen (Robert "Ed") Dobson of Ishpeming, Lila Jean Schiltz of Green Bay, Mari (Norman) Stanaway of Negaunee and 1 grandchild, Juniper Kay (daughter of Holly Lehto and Paul Kay).

Preceding him in death are his parents; Lila and Hugo Lehto.

A family celebration will occur in the spring or summer.
