Joyce Marilyn (Miilu) Taipalus

Joyce Marilyn Taipalus, age 78 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at U.P. Health System Marquette, MI.

She was born October 9, 1941 in L'Anse, MI daughter of Edwin and Martha (Autio) Miilu. Joyce graduated from L'Anse High School in 1959. She married Edward Taipalus on August 12, 1961 in L'Anse. Joyce was a deputy township clerk for about 8 years.

She was a member of United Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. Joyce enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, word searches, and was an avid Michigan sports teams fan.

Surviving are her son Alan Taipalus of L'Anse; daughters, Carol (Erik) Mattox of Aura; Linda Taipalus of L'Anse; brother Ronald (Cassie) Miilu of Mass City, MI; sister Judy Testen of L'Anse; sisters-in-law Gloria (Larry) Klerkx of Interlochen, Joan Kotcher of Escanaba; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Edward; and brother-in-law Edward Testen.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 17th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. John Ansell officiating. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
