Ruth Sylvia (Mattson) Kivimaki

Ruth Sylvia Kivimaki, age 77 of Negaunee, MI suddenly entered Eternal Life on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at UP Health System Bell in Ishpeming, MI.

She was born February 11, 1944 in Covington, MI daughter of Eino and Sylvia (Hamari) Mattson. Ruth graduated from L'Anse High School in 1962, and then received a Master's degree in Education from NMU. She was married to Matthew Kivimaki and they resided in Marquette. She was a member of Evergreen Christian Church in Negaunee and then Father's Heart Church in West Ishpeming. Ruth enjoyed fishing, picking blue berries, and was an avid Bible reader. She loved horses, however the true love of her life was the Lord. She looked forward to seeing Jesus in Heaven with her own eyes.

Surviving are her sister-in-law Darlene Mattson of Covington; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends and caregivers Annette and Michael Carriere.

Preceding her in death are her parents in a tragic accident; husband Matthew; brothers, Reuben, Arnold, and David Mattson.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 7th from 10-11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Carriere and Vicar Corey Harman officiating. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
