Sally Pauline (Sullivan) Kahkonen

Sally Pauline Kahkonen, age 78 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Monday, October 10th, 2022 at U.P. Health System in Marquette, MI.

She was born November 6, 1943 in Gaylord, MI daughter of James and Marie (Melzow) Sullivan. Sally came from a large family and she was one of fourteen children. Her family moved to L'Anse when she was a young girl and in 1961 Sally graduated from L'Anse High School.

Sally loved flowers, she worked as a florist for many years and managed the family excavation business. Every spring she looked forward to helping plant at her sister's greenhouse in Eagle River, WI. Her favorite things to do were gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, walking on the beach, fishing for perch and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She also loved bird watching and she could hardly wait to see who would spot the first robin of the year! She loved her dog Lulu, her family and always looked forward to visits from her sisters. She will also be missed for her beautiful smile and her great sense of humor!

Surviving are her children, Tracy (Lyle) Kahkonen of L'Anse, Terrence (Suzanne) Kahkonen of Baraga, Pauline "Polly" (Brady) Schaefer of L'Anse; grandchildren, Terrance Cranford, Rachel Lamson, Annie Cranford, Ashtin Koski, Keegin Kahkonen, Kamrin Kahkonen, Eli Schaefer, Milo Schaefer; great grandchildren, Rilyn, Leo, Charlie, Walker, Payton, Miller; siblings, Frank (Cathy) Sullivan of Sugar Camp, WI, Patsy Perry of Eagle River, WI, Kathy (Robert) Fielder of Corinth, TX, John (Sheri) Sullivan of Eagle River,WI, Colleen Thompson of Norway, MI, Terry (Roxy) Sullivan of Eagle River,WI, Cindy (Todd) Powell of Eagle River,WI, Jay (Francoise) Sullivan of Sierra Vista, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents, James and Marie Sullivan; siblings, Carol Sullivan, Eric Sullivan, Janet Burkhalter, Mike Sullivan, and David Sullivan.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
